What to do if you develop flu-like symptoms caused by influenza or coronavirus

Stay away from anyone whom you do not know.. practice social distancing.

Rest and sleep will help your body heal. Stay home!

Eat and drink plenty: now is the time not to diet.

Have a nice hot soup or tea whenever you can.

Paracetamol or acetaminophen for fever and pain.

Controversial : Nonsteroidal inti-inflammatory drugs and prednisone. – will suppress or decrease inflammatory response and reticuloendothelial cells (RES).. first line of defense. Be careful.

Use nebulizers with saline solution or Atrovent for bronchodilation,

albuterol if you do not have cardiac issues.

Use mucolytic of any kind, ambroxol , guaiafenesin , any kind to liquify phlegm.

Mucus plug is the usual cause of shortness  of breathing and may result in  respiratory arrest and  death according to Wuhan autopsy (caused by COVID-19)

If with severe shortness of breathing, go to the hospital for artificial ventilation and supportive treatment like intravenous fluids and medications as necessary.

May stop other meds that can cause other side effects.

A lot of meds are coming out eg antivirals  for COVID-19.

A specific vaccine for COVID-19  is necessary to stop this pandemic, being tested already.

Always get a yearly flu vaccine and pneumovax if you qualify (Prevnar 13 and Prevnar 23).

Credentials : I used to work in the ER for 6 years as a certified ER RN before I became an Adult Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges..

It was a very good experience,  but we are at the frontlines, always busy and sometimes scared.

I have been exposed to a lot of virulent germs, maybe, I have some immunity already. I seldom get sick…just once ever since 1990. (since I have been in the USA).

PS: Religion and gods are useless in times like this.
